The cooperative

Expertise at the service of our customers partners and farmers members

Collecting and selling Essential Oils

Our team collects samples from our members during the summer distillation period to assess the quality of the Essential Oils produced.
If the products are deemed to meet the expected standards, they are then collected from September onwards at our storage sites located in Puimoisson or Simiane-la-Rotonde.

In a second step, we weigh the collected oil, filter it, and then pour it into a shared tank where it is stored.
The homogeneous batch thus formed is then analysed in a laboratory and sampled for clients according to the required specification. The corresponding technical documentation is included with each shipment.

Once the client approves the pricing proposal and the quality, we prepare the order.

Before shipment, we carry out a final filtration, then package the order in containers ranging from 1 to 900 kg. Finally, the order can be collected from our site or delivered according to the negotiated Incoterm.

Supporting and federating producers

Our technical team has strong expertise in the management of perfume plant cultivation. This know-how is put at the service of our members.
A comprehensive support service is therefore offered to all producers wishing to improve their cultivation methods.

Since its creation, SCA3P has made a significant contribution to the development of agricultural machinery. For example, it has designed a shredder to manage ground cover, as well as another for processing coriander seed. At the same time, the cooperative also plays a key role as a unifying body. It brings together member farmers and acts as their voice.

SCA3P also applies its expertise to innovation, developing new varieties to meet the specific needs of its clients.
In addition, studies and trials are conducted throughout the year.
The goal is clear: to implement more responsible and sustainable agricultural practices.
In this way, these actions address regulatory requirements, societal expectations, as well as technical challenges related, among other things, to climate change.

How does it work?

The specific features and advantages of the cooperative model

SCA3P was founded in 1979 by a small group of producers who wanted to join forces to free themselves from the control of traders and brokers. At the time, forming a cooperative was the ideal solution to challenge a system that was often unfavourable to producers.

Since then, the cooperative has operated in a fully egalitarian manner. It is entirely owned by the farmers, all of whom have the same voting rights, regardless of the quantity they contribute. In practice, the policy is defined by a Board of Directors made up of around ten farmers elected at the General Assembly. The board meets at least four times a year to define and guide the cooperative’s key strategic directions.

Unlike a traditional company, which applies a margin on sales, the cooperative is required to redistribute all of its net revenue—after expenses—back to its members.

Member producers thus receive an advance payment for their harvest amounting to 50% of the target selling price, paid in September. Additional payments are then made in February and June, based on the actual selling price of the products and the financial capacity of the cooperative.

A 100% dedicated team to meet your needs

A word from Jean-Michel COTTA, Chairman

We’ve been producing Essential Oils in Puimoisson for several generations. Today, my son is taking over in turn. The flame won’t be fading anytime soon — it’s truly a family story.

I have been a cooperative member since I set up my farm, and I have held the presidency since 2011. I quickly understood the importance of the collective, which is why I chose to commit myself as President.

I am convinced that to be a good President, you first have to be a good farmer. We have a role to play in the development of our territory.

I advocate for agriculture that is chosen, not endured. And for that, the cooperative is an essential tool.
