Roman chamomile is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family.
More commonly known as "chamomile", the plant is used in the culinary, medicinal (particularly in tea), and cosmetic industries. It is therefore a relatively short perennial plant and sometimes difficult to harvest.
It is harvested in the summer and produces a clear essential oil. Its preferred regions for production are the west of France but also Piedmont. The production at SCA3P is 700kg while world production is slightly more than 10 tons.
Gucci's latest perfume, "Mémoire d'une Odeur" used this essential oil exclusively from the cooperative, illustrating its use in fine perfumery.
