It is a medicinal plant used since Greco-Latin antiquity, simply called "matricaria" in herbal medicine and widely used in herbal teas.
It is harvested in late spring and produces a dark blue essential oil.
For the essential oil, it is a small market with production in Egypt, Hungary and France, where 200 kg are exclusively produced by SCA3P.
The product is mainly used in perfumery.
